The Xposed Framework is
an application only usable on rooted
devices which helps you modify
elements in your device without having to install a custom ROM. The Xposed
Framework helps customize the device on a stock or custom Android ROM to truly
make it yours. Xposed uses modules, which themselves are also sideloaded on the
device. You can think of these as feature packs -- chop up a ROM like Paranoid
Android or CyanogenMod into its assorted components, and that's a bit like a
module you would install for Xposed. If you want to alter the look of your
notification bar, there are modules for that. Additional lock screen shortcuts?
Yes, you can get a module for that too. The list goes on and on.
WHY SHOULD I USE XPOSED?
So lets say you want to
make some changes to the way your phone works. There's only so much you
can do with regular apps, so you root. Cool, you have more options, but there
are still things that are out of reach without starting over with a custom
ROM.But flashing involves risk. With the help of Xposed you can gain most
of the features of a custom ROM on your own stock ROM.
NOTE - Before Installing Xposed you need to root your device.
If you haven't rooted
your device yet. You can check our post on rooting andriod devices.
To install XPOSED just follow these steps-
1.Enable Unknown Sources
Since Xposed is not
available on Google Play, you'll have to make sure your phone allows for
installation of sideloaded apps.To do that, simply head to Settings and
tap Security. In there, tick the box next to Unknown Sources and press
OK.
2.Download the Xposed Installer App
First you’ve got to get
the Framework installer, which you can find in the Xposed Module Repository
site. It also provides a nice interface
for searching and downloading the modules.
Once the download has
finished, launch the install process. When Install is finished, tap Open.
3.Install the Xposed
Framework itself
Locate the app icon, and
press it. Once it has loaded, go to Framework. Here you can install
the actual framework. Once that’s done, reboot your device. Now
Xposed framework itself doesn't bring any new functionality to your
device that you can directly use; being a framework, it sets up the
foundations for its modules, and it’s those modules that actually bring
new features to your device
4.Installing Modules
Now that you're back up,
you are ready to begin installing the modules that offer Xposed's main
functionality. Just open up the Xposed Installer app and head to the Download
section to have a look at what's available.
If you still don't know which modules you should try out,
