How to change Windows 7 startup sound
Here's a trick to quickly change Windows 7 startup sound(also works on Vista)
Software Method
Download a software called Startup sound changer from the given website.
Note- You will have to click on the gray button to download it.

It would be less time consuming and recommended to do this by Software method.
But you can also do it manually if you want to.
Manual Method
Step 1.
First of all make a backup of original imageres.dll by Going to
C:\Windows\System32
In System32 find imageres.dll and make a backup of it in case you want to revert to original.
Step 2.
Now we need to take ownership of imageres.dll.
Open command prompt and type the following -
TAKEOWN /F %windir%\system32\imageres.dll && ICACLS %windir%\system32\imageres.dll /GRANT Administrator:F
Press Enter.
(Now you have ownership of the file)
Step 3.
Go to the following website and download a trial version of Restorator 2007.
Note- You can also use Resource hacker as an alternative.
Open Restorator 2007,Press Ctrl+O which will open a window.In the window you need to find and select imageres.dll and click on open.
Step 4.
In the left pane of Restorator expand the WAVE folder.
Inside it you will notice a file named 5080.(It is the default startup sound)
Right click on 5080 , select Assign > Assign to .
You can now choose your preferred startup sound(.wav)
Now press Ctrl+S to save your changes and quit Restorator 2007.
Congrats! now you have changed your startup sound.
You can also return to default by -
Rename current imageres.dll to (what ever you wish).dll
Then copy the original imageres.dll to System32.
And all will be restored to default after the next boot.
And after the boot you can delete (what ever you wish).dll since it is of no longer use.
